Mimica now has an opportunity for an experienced and passionate Lab Researcher to join our R&D team in Wrexham.
At Mimica, we’re developing a a label that tells you exactly when food spoils. We are driven by reducing food waste and improving food safety for everyone. We are currently expanding our activities in the lab and are looking for… you? You would join our team of 3 researchers which is set to continue growing over the next few years.
We’re looking for somebody passionate about sustainability, making a difference to food waste reduction and who is excited by the idea of new product development. You should have excellent attention to detail, be confident about running experiments on your own and think about challenges creatively.
We would like you to:
Hold a relevant degree in Biochemistry or Food Science
Have experience in microbiology and/or hydrocolloids
Be able, through extended experience, to independently conduct chemical analysis using a number of chemistry techniques
Have experience of chemical formulation and project management
Have an analytical and methodical approach to problem solving
Have excellent understanding of basic laboratory equipment
Be or prepared to be within commutable distance to LL11 2AW
Some of your activities in your first 12 months may include:
Designing methodology for and carrying out pilot lab studies with hydrocolloids
Preparing samples for testing (equipment training will be provided)
Analysing and interpreting data
Presenting results in reports and presentations
Exploring and researching iterations for the technology
Collating existing research into literature reviews
Any other reasonable tasks within the scope of this role
The salary we are offering is between £18-24k, depending on experience. There is plenty of room for development and growth at Mimica as we enter the exciting launch phase of the company.
This is a full-time permanent position. Typical work hours are 9am-5.30pm.

The first stage will be a video or phone call, followed by one or two interviews to finalise our decision. You may be asked to carry out a basic language and mathematics test.
